4Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Union and European Economic Area (EU/EEA), we are required under GDPR Article 6 to identify the legal basis for processing personal data. The following legal bases apply:

Processing Activity Legal Basis (GDPR Art. 6) Explanation
Displaying personalised ads via AdMob Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) We rely on your consent (via Google's UMP/consent framework) before serving personalised ads in the EU/EEA.
Displaying non-personalised ads Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) Serving ads is necessary to fund and maintain a free game. Non-personalised ads do not require consent.
Saving game progress locally Contract / Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(b)(f)) Necessary to provide core game functionality — saving progress between sessions.
App diagnostics and crash reporting Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) Necessary to maintain and improve app stability and performance.
📌 EU/EEA users: If personalised ads require your consent, a consent dialogue (powered by Google's User Messaging Platform — UMP) will be shown on first launch. You may change your consent choice at any time via your device ad settings (see Section 8).

5How We Use Your Data

Data is used solely for these purposes:

  • Show advertisements — banner, interstitial, and rewarded video ads via Google AdMob to keep the game free.
  • Manage ad frequency — a local counter ensures interstitial ads are shown at most once every 2 completed levels, protecting your experience.
  • Save game progress — your current and unlocked level numbers are stored locally so you resume where you left off.
  • Save audio settings — your music and sound on/off preferences are stored locally.
  • Improve stability — crash and performance data from platform stores help us identify and fix bugs.

We will NEVER use data to:

  • Sell or rent to data brokers, advertisers (other than AdMob), or any third parties.
  • Build individual personal profiles beyond what AdMob requires for ad serving.
  • Make any automated decisions that have legal or significant effects on you.
  • Send you marketing emails, push notifications, or unsolicited communications.

6Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. Data may only be disclosed in these limited circumstances:

  • Google AdMob SDK — receives device/ad data automatically to deliver ads (see Section 7).
  • Unity Technologies — may receive device/OS data as part of the game engine runtime (see Section 7).
  • Legal obligation — if required by law, regulation, court order, or valid governmental request.
  • Safety — to protect the safety of users, the public, or AppMasterMind.
  • Business transfer — if AppMasterMind is acquired or merges, data transfers will be subject to this same Privacy Policy. Users will be notified.
⚠️ We do not sell personal data. Our only advertising partner is Google AdMob. We have no partnerships with analytics companies, social media platforms, or any other data-monetisation services.

7Third-Party SDKs & Services

The following third-party SDKs are embedded in Save The Dog. Each collects and processes data independently under their own privacy policy:
